The world’s biggest sports talent search competition National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) will be organized by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at 4 pm on Thursday. This competition will be organized from 9 to 12 February at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh. In the press conference held on Wednesday, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority Ravindran Sankaran told that for the first time Nidjam is being organized in Bihar.

More than six thousand athletes from six hundred districts of the country will participate in this competition. Apart from this, 1023 coaches and managers of all the teams across the country will come in this competition. Art, Culture and Youth Department Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai said that the Bihar government is committed to the all-round development of sports and sportspersons and all necessary steps are being taken for this.

520 players from Bihar are participating

About 520 selected players from 38 districts and two police districts of Bihar are participating in this talent hunt competition. Adille J Sumariwalla, President, Athletics Federation of India, said that NIDJAM aims to select young talented players from every corner of the country and prepare them like a champion for international competition. He said that out of all the events of NIDJAM held so far, the event to be held in Bihar is the biggest. It is a matter of pride for Nidgem that for the first time all the events are being held on the synthetic track. Along with this, the results will be declared through electronic machine on the basis of international standards. Art Culture and Youth Department Secretary Vandana Preyshi said that our aim is to ensure the participation of Bihar players in the national team participating in every game in the 2028 Olympics.

Country growing in athletics

Olympic gold winner Neeraj Chopra, who is taking javelin throw training abroad, joined the press conference online. He said that today the country is moving forward in athletics. Athletes of the country are winning medals in international competitions. He said that it was from Nidjam that I reached the international level. He said that players should have passion, not money. I started playing from simple ground in the village. Because of my passion for sports, I was able to win the gold medal in the Olympics. Giving a message to the players participating in the competition, he said that don’t take shortcuts in the game, think big and play for the country.
