This is the fourth defeat of the Indian pair at the hands of Liang and Wang. These two pairs faced each other four times last year, in which the Chinese pair was successful in winning three matches. Satwik and Chirag, meanwhile, had defeated their rival team only in the Korea Open Super 500 tournament. Satwik and Chirag had dominated the first game from the beginning and had a lead of seven points till the interval.
Even after this, the Indian pair continued their good performance and won the first game easily. However, the Chinese pair made a good comeback in the second game and took an 8-2 lead. Liang and Wang were leading 11-6 at the interval. The Indian pair made some mistakes while trying to make a comeback, taking advantage of which the Chinese pair won the game and leveled the match.
Satwik and Chirag made a great start in the third and deciding game and were leading 10-3 at one point. Liang and Wang first leveled the score at 12-12 and then did not look back. They secured four championship points, of which the Indian players could defend only one. Satwik and Chirag will now participate in the India Open Super 750 tournament starting in New Delhi from Tuesday.
