Gautam Buddha Nagar (Best Hindu News): Olympian Manu Bhaker and international shooter Sarabjot Shooting Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold medal at the Khelo India University Games here on Tuesday. Manu and Sarabjot, representing Panjab University, registered a 16-2 win over Varun Dubey and Vibhuti Bhatia of Delhi University in the final. Pradeep Kaur Sidhu and Amanpreet Singh of Punjabi University won the bronze medal by defeating Harshdeep Singh Gill and Shikha Narwal of Maharshi Dayanand University 16-14.
On the other hand, in the skeet mixed team event, Panjab University’s Parinaj Dhaliwal and Prabh Pratap S Chahal won gold by defeating Punjabi University pair of Asees Chhina and Sukhbir S Harika 31-29. Arjun Thakur and Shivani Raikwar of Guru Nanak Dev University won the bronze medal by defeating their teammates Gurnihal S Garcha and Kajal Singh Baghel 32-22.
Panjab University topped the medal tally for the first time thanks to a stellar performance by the shooters. Guru Nanak Dev University is second in the table, while Jain University, which reached the top on Monday, has dropped two places to third.
Meanwhile, Usha of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University won the gold medal in the women’s 55 kg category with a total lift of 181 kg (snatch 80 kg; clean and jerk 101 kg), while TM Keertan of Madras University won the gold medal in the weightlifting competitions held at GB University. (59 kg category) won gold with a total lift of 178 kg (snatch 82 kg; clean and jerk 96 kg).
In the men’s 67 kg category, Tejas Dattarai Jondhale of Shivaji University won the gold medal with a total lift of 258 kg (snatch 118 kg; clean and jerk 140 kg). Kiran Ravindra Marathe of Kavyatri Bhinbai Chowdhary North Maharashtra University won gold in the 73kg category. In boxing, Maa Shakambhari Vishwavidyalaya made it to the finals of 66-70 kg and 75-81 kg categories, which will be held on June 2, 2023 at SVSP Sports Complex.
