Marlon Samuels Banned: India-Australia T-20 series, Eastern ‘or’ cricket tournament banned for 6 years, major action by ICC

Pudhari Online Desk: West Indies’ legendary cricketer Marlon Samuels has been banned by the ICC. Samuels has performed brilliantly for West Indies on many occasions. After retirement, he plays in the domestic league. As soon as he comes, he is found guilty of corruption and is imprisoned. Samuels will not be able to play in any format for the next six years. Samuels has been found guilty of violating the rules related to the anti-corruption code of the Emirati Cricket Board.

Giving information about the ban on Samuels (Marlon Samuels Banned), Alex Marshall, head of ICC’s HR and Integrity Unit, said that Samuels has played international cricket for almost two decades. During this time he participated in many anti-corruption sessions and became aware of his responsibilities under the Anti-Corruption Code. So retired Jhala Asala Tari would have come, Samuels would have been a partner in crime at that time. Therefore, Alex Marshall expressed confidence that the ongoing rain ban will serve as a strong message to any cricketer who violates the rules.

ICC faces banana charges in 2021

According to the ICC’s allegations in September 2021, Samuels (Marlon Samuels Banned) would have violated sections 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the Emirates Cricket Board’s anti-corruption code. Anti-corruption officers of the ICC’s department refer to non-reporting of gifts, payments, hospitality or other benefits, which can tarnish the reputation of the game. Or there would have been some misdemeanor like non-cooperation in the investigation, leakage of information, obstruction or delay in the investigation.

Marlon Samuels Banned

Samuels has often found promise in his actions. In 2008, he would have been found guilty of accepting gifts and money. After this, both Samuels and Varshani would have been arrested. In 2014, he protested against then-captain Dwayne Bravo’s decision to tour India against the background of Borda’s payment promise. After this, ICC would have declared his bowling illegal in 2015 and would have banned him from bowling for one year.

Last international match played in 2018

Samuels has won both T20 World Cups with West Indies in 2012 and 2016. Or he scored the most runs for West Indies in both the title-winning finals. He would have played his last international match against Bangladesh on 14 December 2018. Then in November 2020 he announced his retirement. Samuels played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20s. He has scored 3917 runs in Test matches at an average of 32.64, 5606 runs in ODI matches at an average of 32.97 and 1611 runs in T-20 matches at a strike rate of 116.23. Samuels has scored 7 centuries and 24 half-centuries in Tests, 10 centuries and 30 half-centuries in ODIs and 10 half-centuries in T-20. Apart from this, Samuels has taken 41 wickets in Tests, 89 ODIs and 22 wickets in T-20.

The former West Indies player with more than 300 international appearances has had his ban confirmed by the ICC.
