Maruti Suzuki introduced eVX electric SUV, know its features

New Delhi : Suzuki Motor Corporation has debuted an updated version of the Maruti Suzuki EVX electric SUV concept, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this year. The Japanese carmaker has said that the updated EVX concept will make its debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show later this month. It will be showcased along with the Suzuki Swift concept, which previews the fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Swift. Let us tell you that Maruti Suzuki has not yet introduced any car in the electric segment. Along with this, the automaker has also started preparing to launch the new edition of WagonR in the market.
The automaker has said that the updated EVX SUV concept comes as part of the carmaker’s first global strategy to launch an electric vehicle. The auto giant further said that the EVX previews an electric vehicle that realizes the Suzuki SUV driving experience by further developing electronically controlled 4×4 technologies.
Suzuki EVX Concept Design
The Suzuki EVX Concept measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. Talking about its design, the updated edition of the all-electric concept SUV comes with minor styling changes. The LED lights and production-spec wing mirrors have been repositioned. The Suzuki brand logo has been placed slightly above the previous concept shown at Auto Expo 2023.
Suzuki EVX Concept Interior
Suzuki has said that the interior of the car will be showcased during the upcoming Japan Mobility Show. It is expected to come with a dual-screen setup, which will combine the fully digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system into a single freestanding unit. Additionally, there is expected to be a flat-bottom sporty steering wheel, rotary dial and touch panel inside the cabin.
Suzuki EVX Concept Powertrain
On the powertrain front, Maruti Suzuki had earlier said that the EVX will be equipped with a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. However, the cell chemistry that will be available in the production model has not been disclosed. Maruti Suzuki had earlier said that the EV will offer a range of 550 km, which Suzuki has not modified saying that the electric SUV will promise a range of 500 km on a single charge.
When will Maruti Suzuki’s electric SUV be available?
According to media reports, Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV will be available in late 2024 or early 2025. It will be based on Toyota’s 27PL architecture. The electric car is likely to have a coupe-like roofline. It is expected to come with single and dual electric motor setup. The electric SUV is expected to come with a driving range of around 500 km.
Maruti Suzuki will introduce six electric vehicles by 2030
Maruti’s parent company Suzuki had said in January this year that the company will introduce six electric vehicles by the year 2030. Along with this, the company has also informed that by 2030 the company will not only produce electric vehicles, but will also work on cars running on fuels like CNG, ethanol, flex fuel cars and biogas. The company says that by the financial year 2030, battery EV will be 15 percent of the entire portfolio while ICE vehicles will be 60 percent and the number of hybrid electric vehicles will be around 25 percent.
investment of 10 thousand crore rupees
Maruti has already made it clear that as soon as the manufacturer joins the EV segment, it will invest Rs 10,000 crore for the production of new vehicles. The company will focus on eco-friendly cars under its Project Imaginext, in which sustainability will be the main focus.

The WagonR Flex Fuel reflects the company’s efforts towards flex fuel technology and can also run on E85 fuel. Flex fuel vehicles have been developed to run on 20 to 85 percent ethanol blends. Apart from being less polluted, the specialty is that it also gets more mileage. This too will be launched in the market by 2025.
