Matt Henry included in place of David Willey in Lucknow Super Giants team

Lucknow. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have picked New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry as a replacement for England left-arm fast bowler David Willey. Willey has withdrawn from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to personal reasons.
According to a statement from the tournament, Henry joined LSG at his base price of Rs 1.25 crore. This will be Henry’s third stint in the IPL after being a part of Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the previous editions of the tournament.
Henry has featured in two IPL matches so far, both for Punjab Kings in 2017. He has so far represented New Zealand in 25 Tests, 82 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 17 T20 Internationals, and has taken 256 wickets in total.
He will now join LSG’s fast bowling group, which includes Mohsin Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Shivam Mavi, Mohammad Arshad Khan, Mayank Yadav, Yudhveer Singh Charak, Yash Thakur and Shamar Joseph, along with Arshin Kulkarni and Marcus Stoinis will be included who can bowl some overs of seam bowling.
Before the start of IPL 2024, LSG head coach Justin Langer had said that Willey would not be available for the tournament. Willey had spent the last few months in the UAE and Pakistan playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Multan Sultans in the ILT20 and PSL respectively. Before him, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson and Jason Roy had withdrawn from IPL 2024 due to different reasons.
K.L. LSG, captained by Rahul, will take on Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first home match of IPL 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday evening.
