Ahmedabad . Australian team’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell feels that now he and his team are ready for the World Cup.
He has regained fitness just before the tournament. Maxwell has been excellent with ball and bat during practice matches.
He had the best performance of his career not only in the practice matches but also in Australia’s victory over India in Rajkot.
It is believed that he will play an important role in forming a spin pair with leg spinner Adam Zampa in this World Cup, where Australia’s campaign will start against India in Chennai from October 8.
Cricket.com.au quoted Maxwell as saying, “The ball is turning as good as ever. I’m probably at a place in my career where I don’t need to train as much with my bowling. Got really good clarity about that.”
He also said that he would be fit to handle the double role of batting in the middle order and bowling ten overs of off-spin.
Maxwell said, “I think mentally there is always this fatigue of what is going to happen tonight? But now things are better. My practice seems to be a little more organized these days.”
Maxwell also expressed hope that his vast experience of playing in India will benefit him and Australia. He said that I feel that most of the players in our team have got a lot of experience and a lot of time. (IANS)
