Messi retains FIFA’s best male player award

London (Uttam Hindu News): Argentine superstar Lionel Messi retained FIFA’s Best Men’s Player award on Monday, two months after winning the Ballon d’Or award.
According to the report of news agency Xinhua, 36-year-old player Messi was not present at the ceremony in London, while Pep Guardiola, who trained Messi at Barcelona, was present to receive the men’s best coach trophy.
The Spaniard also led Manchester City to the Premier League title, FA Cup and first Champions League title last season.
Pep Guardiola helped many Manchester City players to perform brilliantly. Under his leadership, Ederson won the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper Award. Meanwhile, six Brazilian club teammates were named to the Men’s Team of the Year.
Additionally, England manager Sarina Wigman was crowned the women’s best coach, while Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonamati took home the women’s best player award.
Marta has been awarded the FIFA Special Award for her outstanding career achievements.
The 37-year-old Brazilian scored 17 goals in 23 appearances across six World Cup tournaments. She has been selected as the world’s best female player six times.
