Florida, March 27 (HS). Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden have reached the semi-finals of the men’s doubles category of Miami Open.

The top-seeded Indian-Australian pair, currently ranked second in the world, defeated Dutch-Australian pair John-Patrick Smith and Sam Verbeek 3-6, 7-6(7-4), 10-7 in the final. Made it to four.

The Indian-Australian pair will face the winner of the match between Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos and Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Julien Roger in the semi-finals.

This was Bopanna and Ebden’s third semi-final together this year. They also reached the last-four and final of the Adelaide Open in January this year, but ultimately lost to English-American pair Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram.

Notably, Bopanna became the oldest world No. 1 player for the first time at the age of 43. Following his success at the Australian Open this January, he achieved the top ranking in men’s doubles. However, the pair slipped to second place in the ATP rankings after a quarterfinal loss at the Dubai Championships and a round of 32 exit at the Indian Wells Masters.
