Hyderabad: New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell scored a blistering century in the first match of the three ODI series against India. Bracewell completed his century in 57 balls. This was Michael Bracewell’s second century in ODI cricket. Bracewell scored a century for New Zealand at a time when the team’s top order batsmen were in complete disarray. During this, Bracewell got a lot of support from Mitchell Santner. Santner returned to the pavilion after scoring 57 runs in 45 balls.

Bracewell’s first century came against Ireland. Even against Ireland, he took command for New Zealand in a difficult situation and batted till the last for the team to win.

Bracewell has become the second batsman in the world to score the fastest century in ODIs. Before Bracewell, Pakistan’s dashing all-rounder Shahid Afridi had done the feat of scoring a century in 45 balls.

In the first ODI played in Hyderabad, the Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started the innings for India. Although Rohit was dismissed after scoring 34 runs, Shubman Gill continued to bat from the other end and created a sensation by scoring the first double century of his career. Shubman played an inning of 208 runs in 149 balls.
