Chandigarh. Mohammad Azam Khan’s goal in the second half injury time helped Minerva Public School win the championship title in the 62nd Subroto Cup Sub-Junior (Under 14) Boys Inter School International Football Tournament by defeating Chongfianga Middle School, Saiden, Kolasib, Mizoram. Did.
Minerva won 1-0 in a thrilling final played at the Army Service Corps Center in Bengaluru on Tuesday. This is the first time in the history of the tournament that a school representing the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) became the Subroto Cup winner.
Air Marshal R. Moolish AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, who arrived as the chief guest, handed over the trophy to the winning team. On this occasion, Air Marshal R. Moolish AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief said, Subroto Cup is organized every year with the objective of promoting the game of football at the grassroots level and encouraging the players. School children from across the country are provided an opportunity to showcase their talent on the national stage.
This tournament is an ideal arena for children to enhance their sporting skills and interact with each other culturally and socially. My heartiest congratulations to the winners and all other participating teams. Several prizes including cash prizes were given away at the end of the finals.
Late Group Captain V.N. Singh Memorial Fair Play Trophy and a check of Rs 50,000 was presented to Mother’s Pride Public School, Maloti, Himachal Pradesh by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Air Commodore Sarabjit Singh, Air Officer Commanding, AFS Jalahalli.
Vivek Tanti of Bumptner Bengnabari H.S.S., Sibsagar, Assam was awarded the Safe Hand Trophy and a check of Rs 25,000 for the best goalkeeper. Ashu Kashyap of Minerva Public School was awarded a check of Rs 25,000 for the best coach.
Chawangfianga Middle School, Saiden, Kolasib, Mizoram was awarded a check of Rs 40,000 for the best school. Khangembam Bibash of Minerva Public School was handed over by Senior Officer (Administration), Training Command, Air Vice Marshal R.V. Ramkishore was awarded the Best Player trophy and a check of Rs 40,000 by VSM.
The runner-up trophy of the tournament, along with Rs 2,00,000, was presented by Lieutenant General B.K Repswal AVSM, VSM, Commandant, ASC Center & College. The winners of the Subroto Cup were presented with the winning trophy as well as a check of Rs 3,50,000 by the chief guest.
