New Delhi. Days after the IPL 2023 final, Gujarat Titans pacer Mohit Sharma made a heart-wrenching revelation in the last over where star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four off the last two balls to clinch a thrilling match and Chennai Super Kings became winners for the fifth time, saying that he could not sleep and kept wondering what could have been done differently.

With Chennai needing 13 runs to win in the last over, the experienced Mohit bowled four yorkers against Shivam Dubey and Jadeja and conceded just three runs. However, the tables were turned when Mohit missed his marker and Jadeja hit a straight six off the fifth ball of the over on Monday night.

With the last ball needing a boundary, Mohit bowls a full toss down the leg side and Jadeja plays the ball towards fine leg. Chennai equaled Mumbai Indians’ record with a record-fifth IPL title and their players celebrated the victory.

“I was very clear in my mind about what I wanted to do. In the nets, I had practiced these kinds of situations and I have been in such situations before. That’s why I said I want to do that,” Mohit told The Indian Express. Let all balls bowl yorkers and I was following my instincts.”

Mohit bowled well and despite being confident in his approach, skipper Hardik Pandya walked up to him after the first ball for a small chat. The buzz didn’t go down well for the veteran fast bowler as he missed his length and bowled an undercooked yorker which was lifted by Jadeja for a straight six.

After the end of the final, many cricket experts questioned Hardik’s decision to hold talks with Mohit despite his good performance. However, the Gujarat Titans pacer defended his skipper saying he knew what he had to do.

Mohit revealed, “They wanted to know what would be their action plan. I said I will try to bowl the yorker again. People are now saying this and that, but clearly it doesn’t make any sense. I know was what I wanted to do.”

The 34-year-old cricketer also revealed that despite being hit by Jadeja on the fifth ball, he backed himself to emulate what he had done in the first four deliveries. Unfortunately, it didn’t go according to plans.

Mohit said, “I ran and tried to bowl (yorker) again. I just wanted to concentrate and back myself. I have done this throughout the IPL. The ball landed where it should not have gone. And Jadeja took his bat. I tried, I tried.”

He said, “I couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking what would have been different which would have won the match. What if I could have bowled this ball or that ball? It’s not a good feeling anymore. Something is missing somewhere but I am determined to move on.” I’m trying.”

Overall, Mohit had an impressive IPL 2023 season, taking 27 wickets in 14 matches for the runners-up Gujarat Titans.(IANS)
