New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni on Monday equaled the charismatic records of Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians while lifting the IPL 2023 trophy. During this successful season, Dhoni was constantly battling with a knee injury. Had it been someone else, he might have laid down his arms, but he did not miss a single match throughout the season. Now if reports are to be believed, he will be admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. CSK defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the final of IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is reported that his surgery will be done next week itself. He got the test done after winning the trophy. Earlier in the IPL 2023 season, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had admitted that Dhoni is playing in the T20 league despite a knee injury. Fleming said in the press conference after the match against Rajasthan Royals last month, ‘He (Dhoni) is recovering from a knee injury. You can also see this during his movement on the field.

Dhoni took a ‘lap of honour’ with an ice pack on his knee after CSK’s last league match of the season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also shared an adorable picture with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni after the Men in Yellow’s win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). In that picture too, Dhoni can be seen wearing the same ice pack on his injured knee.

After the match, Irfan went to the CSK dressing room and met Dhoni. The ‘best friends’ hugged each other and posed for the cameras. Later Irrfan shared the picture with his fans. After CSK won the IPL 2023 title, Dhoni has already confirmed that he would like to continue with the franchise in the 2024 season as well. He had said that if you see by chance then this is the best time to announce retirement. It is easier for me to say thank you and retire.

But the tough job is to work hard for 9 months and try to play one more IPL season. The body has to be held. The amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it will be a gift to them to play one more season. The way they have shown their love and passion, it is something that I should do for them.
