During most of his international career, Dhoni was part of the highest class of Indian players in the BCCI contract system and was one of the highest earners in every season in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings. Additionally, Dhoni has participated in various advertisements and brand endorsements.
Recently, an old job posting letter of Chennai Super Kings from 2012 is going viral on social media. The letter confirms his position as Vice President in Indian Cements. According to a letter shared by IPL founder Lalit Modi in 2017, the Indian cricket legend’s monthly salary was Rs 43,000.
It is worth remembering that the company owns the CSK franchise. It is noteworthy that this letter is from the time when Dhoni was at the peak of his career, having won India their second World Cup title in history a year ago in 2011.
Despite last playing for India in 2019, Dhoni continues to lead CSK in the IPL. In fact, he has become the joint successful IPL captain after leading CSK to a record-equalling fifth title by defeating Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad earlier this year. Dhoni has earlier made CSK champions in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.
Dhoni has hinted at a return in 2024, although many believed that the 2023 IPL season would be his last. However, he warned that it would depend on how his body plays out. If he remains fit then only he will be seen playing in IPL in 2024. The legendary wicketkeeper had undergone knee surgery a few days after the IPL final.
