Murray won the trophy here in 2009, 2010 and 2015 and now he is trying to win the fourth title here. He won 7-6 (3), 6-0 in a match that lasted 90 minutes.
He will next face Max Purcell of Australia who defeated Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada 6-4, 6-4. Gabriel Diallo of Canada won his first ATP Tour level match by defeating Dan Evans of Britain 7-6(4), 7-5. He will now face Australia’s Alex Di Minor in the second round.
