National Dragon Boat Championship begins amid chaos

Dragon Boat Association Under the aegis of Jharkhand, the 11th Senior National Dragon Boat Championship started at Barhi Jawahar Ghat on Friday. It was inaugurated by Hazaribagh SP Manoj Ratan Chothe. After this SP, Barhi DSP Nazir Ahmed and officials of Dragon Boat Federation of India boarded a steamer and left for the trial. When the steamer reached the middle dam, its oil ran out and the steamer stopped there.
Everyone including the SP got stuck in the beach dam for about half an hour in the scorching sun. The SP also signaled for help by raising his hand, but the organizers did not pay any attention to it. The steamer got caught on the other side by the wind, then the SP got down in the water and came out and reached the platform on foot. The SP got angry with this chaos and reprimanded the organisers.
Haryana’s boat overturned while giving demo
After the inauguration, teams from Delhi and Haryana took boats and came down to give demo. The players must have gone inside the dam only 20-25 meters, then Haryana’s boat overturned in the water. The players in the boat were wearing life jackets, so they swam out. There was also a female player among them, who got hurt. The SP looked angry even on the information of overturning of the boat. He asked the organizers to fix the system soon. Also said that if any untoward incident happens, then Jharkhand Dragon Boat Association will be fully responsible for it.
Arrangements are being made fine: Santosh Prasad
Santosh Prasad, chairman of the East Zone of the Dragon Association, told that it is the first day, so there was some chaos. Now no player will have any complaint. On the other hand, Barhi Circle Officer Arvind Devashish Toppo and Barhi police station in-charge Rohit Kumar also held a meeting with the organizers at the venue regarding the arrangement.

Women and men players from 19 states including Haryana, Punjab, Assam, Himachal have reached to participate in the championship. Due to the lack of drinking water at the venue in the scorching heat, everyone looked upset. Players also complained about this.
