Major Dhyanchand has a total of more than 1000 goals
Major Dhyanchand is a hockey player who won gold medals in the Olympics for India in 1928, 1932 and 1936. He scored a total of 400 goals in his hockey career from 1926 to 1949. He is also called the magician of hockey. He has scored a total of more than 1000 goals in his journey from his early days till his retirement from the sports world.
Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award
Before 2021, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award was given to the best player of India, which is the best honor given in the sports world of India. The award was named after the former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. But on August 6, 2021, the name of this award was changed to Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award. When India’s best players in any sport perform their best and achieve their rightful place in the sports world, then they are awarded this award. In honor of India’s best hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, this most respected award has been named Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. This honor was started during 1991 to 92.
Prize money of Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award
The award carries a medal, a certificate and a cash prize. Till 2004-05, the amount of cash prize was Rs.5,00,000. Now this amount has been increased from 5 lakh to 7,50,000. Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna (full Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna) is given annually to the sportsperson, in which the individual or team is honored for outstanding sports performance. Free railway pass facility is provided to the respected persons by the Government of India. Under which Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardees can travel free of cost in first and second class air-conditioned coaches in Rajdhani or Shatabdi trains. Here is the list of Khel Ratna awardees.
