First player to win gold medal in World Athletics Championship
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal by throwing the javelin at a distance of 88.17 metres. After the second attempt, Neeraj made throws of 84.64m, 84.64m, 87.73m and 83.98m respectively from his third to sixth attempt, but his throw of 88.17m could not be crossed by any other opponent and Neeraj’s name on the gold medal. India’s Kishore Jena finished fifth with a throw of 84.77 metres. And DP Manu finished sixth with a throw of 84.14 metres. This is the first time in the World Championship that there have been three Indians in the top eight. Chopra now has all the titles in the game. Apart from the Asian Games (2018), Commonwealth Games (2018) Gold, he has won four Diamond League titles and the Diamond League Champion Trophy last year.
