New Zealand announces ODI team for Bangladesh tour – Dainik Savera Times

Wellington: New Zealand has announced a 13-member squad with three new players for the ODI series starting with Bangladesh. Regular ODI captain Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway have been rested ahead of the domestic season. Therefore, Tom Latham has been made the captain of the ODI team and three new players, all-rounder Josh Clarkson, fast bowler Will O’Rourke and legspinner Adi Ashok have been included in the team.

Michael Bracewell, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, James Neesham, Ben Lister and Henry Shipley were not available for selection due to injury. Trent Boult had ruled himself out of selection New Zealand selector Sam Wells said, “The volume and intensity of winter cricket this year means we need to find a balance with the workload for the players, especially those players “For those who play multiple formats, there will also be a need for balance and it’s great to be able to give some players their first call-up.”

“Josh is someone who, while still young, has played over 150 matches for the Stags, developing his skills with bat and ball to become a consistent contributor,” he said. Both he and Will are still new to domestic cricket, but have been impressive early on and did well in the matches against Australia A this year.

New Zealand will play the first ODI against Bangladesh on 17 December. The second ODI will be held on December 20 in Nelson and the third on December 23 in Napier. New Zealand’s team is as follows:- Tom Latham (captain), Adi Ashok (for second and third matches), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O’Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Ish Sodhi (1st match) and Will Young.
