New Delhi. Indian cricketer Nitish Rana has announced that he will play for Uttar Pradesh and quit Delhi from the current 2023-24 domestic cricket season.
Left-handed all-rounder batsman Nitish Rana, who captained Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023, will now be seen playing for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket.
He will be joined by his IPL teammate Rinku Singh in this team. He is now eligible to play in the inaugural edition of the UPT20 League, where he will play for the Noida Super Kings.
Rana wrote on the social media platform X, “I am grateful for the opportunities, guidance and support that DDCA has provided me over the years. As I move on to new heights, I look forward to captaining Delhi Cricket I will always remember my journey.
“I would like to appreciate Rohan Jaitley for his support and co-operation during my tenure with DDCA. However, I feel the time has come to start a new chapter in my career. I have come to a decision and I am happy to announce that I will be joining UPCA from the upcoming domestic season.”
“I am excited to play for UPCA and I look forward to working with everyone to reach new heights,” said Rana.
IANS had reported on August 12 that Rana had applied for NOC from Delhi and DDCA. That’s when his longtime Delhi teammate, Dhruv Shorey was confirmed to move to two-time Ranji Trophy winning team Vidarbha.
Having played one ODI and two T20Is for India, Rana was a regular in Delhi’s domestic team and even served as captain. But he struggled with poor form last season and was subsequently dropped from the Ranji Trophy team.
