The arch-rivals India-Pakistan will clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15. Apart from India, Pakistan, eight teams namely Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, South Africa and New Zealand have qualified on the basis of ICC rankings released till the cut-off date of May 14. Two more teams will join it from the qualifier matches being held in Zimbabwe from June 18 to July 9. Each team will play one match each with the other nine teams. A total of 45 league matches will be played on this basis.
Matches will be played on these 12 grounds
The BCCI had on Monday called a meeting of the office bearers of the state cricket associations in Mumbai, these were the state associations where the World Cup matches would be held. These 12 cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Pune and Guwahati. Team India’s nine league matches will be held in nine different stadiums.
World Cup trophy will travel to 18 countries
According to the ICC, from June 27, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy will travel to 18 countries including host India, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, USA. One million fans will get to interact with the trophy through innovative activities and events across countries during the tour.
