ODI World Cup winner will get Rs 33 crore

Dubai. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced that the winner of the upcoming 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup will receive US$4 million, or Rs 33,18,30,800 crore, apart from lifting the trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.

The total prize money for the tournament is $10 million, which was awarded in the 2015 and 2019 editions of the competition. The runners-up of the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup will receive US$2 million, while the losing semi-finalists will receive US$800,000 each.

Prizes will be awarded for each league match won in the tournament, which has become a norm in recent ICC tournaments. The winner of each match in the 45-match group stage will receive US$40,000 and the six teams that did not qualify for the semi-finals will receive US$100,000.

In the 2023 ODI World Cup, teams will play each other in a round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. This event of 48 matches will be played at ten venues from October 5 to November 19.

The 2023 World Cup, the 13th edition of the competition, will begin on October 5 with defending champions England taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Hosts India, the 1983 and 2011 champions, will begin their campaign against five-time champions Australia at the MA Chidambaram in Chennai on October 8. This is the first time that India is hosting an entirely men’s ODI World Cup.

1996 champions Sri Lanka will begin their campaign against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 7. 1992 winners Pakistan will begin their campaign against Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 6.
