Bhubaneswar. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated three modern football training centers in Bhubaneswar ahead of the upcoming Intercontinental Cup, giving a boost to the sports infrastructure in the state.
The three centres, Odisha Football Academy, Bhubaneshwar Football Academy and Capital Football Arena, have been developed at an expense of Rs 90 lakh and will have six turfs certified by the world governing body of the sport, FIFA.
It will have five natural and one synthetic football field, LED floodlights, dressing room for players, gallery coach room and other facilities.
All three centers are located close to each other in the city, which will allow many teams to train together, especially during tournaments.
These three centers will be the training grounds for the national U-16 and U-19 teams, Odisha FC (men, women and youth) and all the state teams (both men and women). Chief Minister Patnaik said that these will be the main centers of football training in the country. It is a matter of great pleasure and pride to inaugurate Odisha Football Academy, Bhubaneswar Football Academy and Capital Football Arena, Patnaik said in the release.
“I am confident that these new facilities will not only encourage youngsters to pursue their passion for football but will also act as a hub for football training in the country,” he said. And a coach education program will also be run. Patnaik announced that a girls’ football academy with artificial turf would also be set up in Kendrapara district.
