New Delhi . The dark side of social media has once again come to the fore. Apart from being the Asian champion, Olympian wrestler Anshu Malik, who has won silver medals in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games, is facing a critical situation due to a fake video.

An extremely disturbing incident came to light on Monday when an objectionable 30-second video using Anshu’s morphed picture was circulated among netizens.

On knowing about this, Anshu’s father Dharamveer immediately lodged an FIR in Sadar police station of Jind, Haryana.

Anshu’s uncle Sandeep Malik, speaking to IANS, alleged that the 22-year-old wrestler’s picture was taken from the internet and morphed. He said, “The video is of a different girl and boy and it is about two years old. The couple shown in the video are now husband and wife. The girl is from Himachal Pradesh and the boy is from Haryana. They are also local level wrestlers. “

Sandeep said, “Anshu’s picture was used as a template in the video. We have demanded action against the person who did this. This is unacceptable…Anshu is a world-class wrestler, yet Someone is maligning her name by using fake and ugly methods. I am sure the police will solve the matter soon. Our entire family is in shock at this time.”

When asked where Anshu is at the moment, her uncle said, “She got injured during the Asiad trials and went to Chennai for rehabilitation. “He is one of India’s medal prospects in next year’s Olympics.”

Anshu became the first female wrestler from India to win a silver medal in the 57 kg category at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships.

He won the gold medal in the 60 kg category of the Cadet Wrestling Championship. In 2020, he won the bronze medal in the 57 kg event at the Asian Wrestling Championships here. In the same year, she won a silver medal in the women’s 57 kg event at the Individual Wrestling World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia.

Anshu won the gold medal in the Asian Wrestling Championship in 2021.

In April 2022, he won the bronze medal in the 57 kg event at the Asian Wrestling Championships held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

After reaching the 57kg freestyle final at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, he had to settle for a silver medal.(IANS)
