Ranchi. An MoU was signed in 2015 between the Government of Jharkhand and CCL to promote the game. After this Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society ie JSSPS was started. Players were selected from many districts of Jharkhand in the academy. The goal was: Olympic gold medal. For this, JSSPS also started 10 sports academies, in which more than 400 players are involved. However, till date no major success has been achieved. In eight years, only one wrestling player has been able to participate in the international level competition. No other player has come forward yet.

Chanchala made international recognition in wrestling

Chanchala Kumari, a cadet of the wrestling academy run in JSSPS, had qualified for the Junior World Wrestling Championship. Although could not win any medal. Has won gold and silver medals at the national level. Apart from this, no other international player has come forward so far. At the same time, there is no international level coach except boxing in the academy.

Training is given in these sports

Presently 443 sports cadets are being trained in athletics, archery, football, taekwondo, weightlifting, cycling, swimming, shooting, wrestling and boxing at the sports academy. The sports academy bears the entire expenses of their living, food, schooling, coaching etc. Selected children are also given a stipend of Rs 500 per month.
