MS Dhoni had filed a defamation suit in the High Court against Zee Media, Sampat Kumar and others over alleged malicious statements and news reports. The petition filed on behalf of MS Dhoni claimed that he was involved in betting and match fixing of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in 2013. Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni had sought an order from the High Court to restrain the defendants, including Sampath Kumar, from issuing or publishing defamatory statements against him related to the issue.

The Madras High Court had earlier granted an interim injunction and restrained Zee Media, Sampath Kumar and others from making defamatory statements against MS Dhoni. Let us tell you that it was Sampat Kumar who initially investigated the IPL betting scam. Following this, Zee Media and others filed their written statements in response to the defamation suit.
