Only Pakistan can do this… Invitation sent to unsold players in WPL, such is the ‘Chinese’ plan

Lahore: The Women’s Premier League has taken off on a big scale in India, with many women cricketers getting paid more than the Pakistan Super League, the men’s cricket league in Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan is hosting 3 women’s league exhibition matches on March 8, 10 and 11 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. For this, he has sent an invitation to those players who were unsold in the WPL auction. People on social media are also terming it as cheap WPL.

Former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir has expressed happiness over the conduct of the matches. He also said that such matches would help in making the local players aware about modern-day cricket. “I am really excited because for the first time exhibition matches for the women’s league are being held here. It will provide an opportunity to women cricketers to showcase their skills.

He further said, ‘These exhibition matches are very important for the local players to know and understand the requirements of modern-day cricket. What are international players doing, how can they improve their skills. “The league at home will not only help players improve their game, but it will also give them a chance to get selected in foreign leagues,” Sana said in an official statement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The exhibition matches will feature 10 overseas players from seven countries in two teams – Amazons and Super Women. The women’s matches will start at 2 pm followed by the men’s Pakistan Super League (PSS) matches at 7 pm. “It is a big deal to have these exhibition matches along with HBL PSL 8. This will increase the number of viewers. Will attract youth to take up this game, which will give a boost to women’s cricket.

Urooj Mumtaz, who played 48 matches for Pakistan from 2004 to 2010, said, ‘I would urge the people of Pindi to come and support women’s cricket. Enjoy the level of women’s cricket that has grown in this country after a while. Bismah Maroof will captain the Amazons, which also include Ireland’s Laura Delany, England’s Lauren Winfield-Hill, Maia Bouchier and Tammy Beaumont and Australia’s Tess Flintoff. Nida Dar will lead the Super Women, which will also feature Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, England’s Danielle Wyatt, Bangladesh’s Jahanara Alam, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and New Zealand’s Lee Tahuhu.
