New Delhi | The availability of Australian players for the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy series has taken another blow. Left-handed opener David Warner has been ruled out of two Tests due to a fractured elbow. He was replaced by left-handed batsman Matthew Renshaw in New Delhi as a substitute and with X-rays confirming Warner has also sustained a hairline fracture in his elbow, now ruling him out of the Tests in Indore and Ahmedabad. Has been given and now he will return to his home country Sydney. Warner scored only 26 runs in three innings of the first two Tests against India.
Cricket Australia (CA) said in an official statement on Tuesday that Warner is expected to be available for the three ODIs in India starting March 17 in Mumbai.
David Warner has been ruled out of the Test tour of India and will return home. Warner had suffered an elbow injury and a hairline fracture in the second Test in Delhi.
Australia has already ruled out fast bowler Josh Hazlewood from the tour due to a left arm injury. Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson missed the first Test in Nagpur due to the birth of his first child but is set to rejoin the Test squad.
Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc are expected to be fit to play in the third Test starting March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
