Orleans Masters: Arjun-Dhruv in top 16, Subramanian out

Orleans Indian men’s doubles pair of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila stormed into the top-16 of the Orleans Masters Super 300 badminton tournament after defeating Czech Republic’s Ondrej Kral and Adam Mendrek in the first leg on Tuesday.
Arjun-Dhruv defeated Ondrej-Adam 21-13, 22-20 in a match that lasted 35 minutes. In the pre-quarterfinals, the Indian pair will face Japan’s K. Mitsushahi and H Okamura.
Meanwhile, the pair of Tanishaa Crasto and Sai overcame a challenge from Serbia’s Mihalo Tomic and Angela Wittmann in the qualification stage to enter the main draw. The Indian pair was leading 20-11 in the first game of the 20-minute match when the Serbian pair decided to bow out of the match.
Shankar Muthusamy Subramanian crashed out of the men’s singles qualification second match after losing to Sweden’s Felix Burstedt. Subramanian got the better of Azerbaijan’s Ade Rayski Dvikahyo 21-17, 21-17 in the first match but went down 21-19, 21-9 to Felix in the second leg.
The 19-year-old Subramanian, a rising star in the Indian men’s singles circuit, came into the limelight after winning the silver medal at the World Junior Championships 2022.
