New Delhi: India’s Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem are javelin superstars and the epitome of ideal friendship. Both athletes are preparing for the upcoming outdoor season. Neeraj Chopra is currently training in Turkey, while 27-year-old Nadeem faces a big challenge.

Nadeem recently said that he has been struggling to achieve international level javelin for many years. He told that he has been using the same javelin for the last 7-8 years.

World and current Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra is quite surprised to hear this.

According to a SAI (Sports Authority of India) statement, Chopra, who competed with Nadeem at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year, said, ‘It is hard to believe that he is struggling to get a new javelin. Given his reputation, this shouldn’t be a big issue.

Many reports have surfaced about Arshad Nadeem, who stood second after Chopra in Budapest. In this he told the media, ‘Now it is at the level where the Javelin has broken. I have asked the national federation and my coach to do something about it before the Paris Olympics.

‘I got this javelin when I started competing in international competitions in 2015.. For an international athlete aiming to win a medal at the Olympic Games, proper equipment and training facilities are required.’

Chopra’s entire training and international tours are funded by the Indian Sports Ministry’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS). He believes that Nadeem is the pride of Pakistan and he should be supported.

With a throw of 90.18m, Arshad Nadeem had created a new record to finish on the top of the podium at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. With this, Pakistan’s 60-year wait for a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games ended.

‘It cannot be that he (Arshad) does not have the means to buy the javelin. He is a champion and will be supporting some brands. I think he has earned a little money too, but his government can see his needs and support him, just like my government is supporting me.

If all goes well, the upcoming Paris Olympics could see a strong Asian competition in the javelin competition. Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena are participating for India, while Pakistan has its hopes from Nadeem.
