The 21-year-old Pankaj got the better of Paris Olympics quota winner Swapnil Kusale 16-12 in a hard-fought match. The qualification was topped by local player and India’s top shooter (50m rifle 3 positions) Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar with a score of 591.

Pankaj Mukheja won the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions title while Haryana’s shooting pair of Nancy and Rhythm Sangwan topped the women’s 10m air rifle and 25m pistol events respectively in the national selection trial shooting here. The 21-year-old Pankaj got the better of Paris Olympics quota winner Swapnil Kusale 16-12 in a hard-fought match. The qualification was topped by local player and India’s top shooter (50m rifle 3 positions) Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar with a score of 591.

He, however, missed out on making it to the gold medal match in the ranking round. In the ranking round, he scored 407.4 while Swapnil was second with 408. Pankaj topped with 413.7 marks. In the women’s 10m air rifle, Nancy beat Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal 16-10 on the third day of the Group A national selection trials. Mehuli topped the qualification round with a score of 633.8 among 42 players but was outclassed by Nancy in the final. Rhythm Sangwan continued his stellar performance with 32 accurate shots in the 25m pistol medal match. Neha of Uttar Pradesh came second with 31 targets and Isha Singh of Telangana came third with 21 targets.
