Pat Cummins becomes the new captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad

New Delhi . Before the start of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad has appointed Australia’s Pat Cummins as the new captain of its team. The team gave this information on social media.

Pat Cummins will replace Aidan Markram on this post. Sunrisers were captained by Aiden Markram in the last two seasons, but both seasons were very bad for the team, with the team finishing at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2023 with just four wins from 14 matches.

However, Markram successfully led Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise’s sister team Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the trophy in the first two seasons of the SA20. But the year 2023 was great for Cummins.

Australia won 2 ICC titles in 2023 under the captaincy of Pat Cummins. The team won the ODI World Cup by defeating India in November. Before that, in June, they also captured the World Test Championship trophy by defeating Team India. He also maintained his team’s hold on the Ashes.

Seeing the captaincy skills of Cummins, Sunrisers have made him the new captain.

This will be the first time Cummins will captain a team in the IPL and will reunite with SRH’s new head coach Daniel Vettori, who also serves as the assistant coach for Australia.

Not only this, Cummins also became the second Australian player to become the captain of Hyderabad after his compatriot David Warner, who led the franchise in 67 matches from 2015 to 2021.

Cummins was bought by the franchise for Rs 20.5 crore in the IPL auction in Dubai last year, making him the second most expensive player in the history of the league.

Cummins has previously been a part of Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL.

IPL 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on March 23.
