PCB: Pakistan is spending money on these 3 cricketers, increased salary for the fourth time, why is it so kind? – pcb hike babar azam mohammad rizwan shaheen afridi salary new contract

The PCB has now reverted to the classification of players in contracts, which is different from the previous year, where players for Test and white-ball cricket were separate. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, all three star players (Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi) are in Category A and can earn PKR 4.5 million ($15,900 or approximately Rs 13.14 lakh) per month.
Why is Pakistan kind to these players?
Pakistan team captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan and star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi are the three players in whom the Pakistan team lives. Due to their presence, the performance of the team reaches a different level. Therefore, there can be a reason that the board is showering money on these players.
Category B players can get PKR 3 million (Rs 10,600 or approx. 8.76 lakh), while Category C and D players will get PKR 0.75-1.5 million (Rs 2650-5300 or approx. 2.19-4.38 lakh) per month. Although the sharp devaluation of the Pakistani rupee and rising inflation in the country offset some of the value of the increase, it is still a substantial hike.
New domestic contract is also being discussed, in which there is a possibility of getting more money. While the new terms will come as a relief, there are still issues to be resolved between the board and the players. Pakistani cricketers are the least paid cricketers in the world as they do not play in IPL and are restricted to participate in other private leagues globally. As per reports, the new contract will allow players in the top two categories to play in any other league other than the Pakistan Super League. Players in lower categories will be allowed to play in more than one.
