Indore : The Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation filed regarding irregularities in the online sale of tickets for the one-day international match between India and New Zealand to be played on January 24 in Indore. The Indore bench of the High Court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner for wasting the time of the court. The High Court has said that this person filed the petition only to gain popularity without verifying the authenticity of the allegations.
Congress leader Rakesh Singh Yadav (56) has filed a PIL against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and the state government, alleging malpractices and black-marketing in the online sale of tickets for the upcoming India-New Zealand match. Due to which the government exchequer also suffered loss of tax revenue. Rejecting these allegations, the MPCA argued in the High Court that the petition was filed only on the basis of a news item published in an evening daily.
Justice SA Dharmadhikari and Justice Prakashchandra Gupta of the Indore bench of the High Court dismissed the petition on January 18 after considering the arguments of both the parties. The court in its judgment said, “The petitioner has filed the PIL without verifying the authenticity of the allegations leveled against the respondents. He has also not produced any documents in support of his allegations. This petition has been filed only for the purpose of gaining popularity.
