The Hockey World Cup 2023 trophy reached Kuramunda and then Birmitrapur on Friday. The residents of Kuramunda and Birmitrapur took to the streets to welcome the trophy. Thousands of people were seen standing on both sides of NH-143 to welcome the World Cup.
Loud slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai, Jai Jagannath were raised. People thanked the state government for organizing the World Cup. Also expressed displeasure for not getting the tickets for the match. However, apart from all the resentment, the residents focused only on welcoming the trophy on Friday.
After the trophy reached Kuramunda, it was circumambulated everywhere in Birmitrapur, Raiboga. The vehicle was equipped and the trophy was placed on it. On behalf of Birmitrapur Municipality, Mayor Sandeep Mishra and other councilors were present to welcome the trophy. An archway was specially built for the reception.
Similarly, the children of Kumjharia School welcomed the trophy in Kumjharia Panchayat area. The whole convoy was resounding with dance songs accompanied by music. All kinds of people were present to welcome the trophy.
The trophy was stopped at more than a dozen spots. Where people took selfies with the trophy and took pictures fiercely. Police was also deployed in view of security.
