Noida . Bharat’s Super 10 proved to be a big difference as Bengaluru Bulls defeated Tamil Thalaivas 38-37 in the southern derby in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 clash at the stadium here on Sunday.
With this win in a close match, Bengaluru Bulls managed to end the year on a high note on Sunday.
As was the pattern for the entire match, it was a close tie in the first five minutes of the match as their star raider Narendra made the most of the chances he got to give Thalaivas the lead.
When the score was 10-7, Bengaluru Bulls had only three defenders on the mat. However, this gave him the perfect opportunity to pull off a super tackle as left cover Partick foiled Ajinkya Pawar’s raid.
The clash kept fans on the edge of their seats, as both southern rivals regularly conceded points to each other to keep the games very close. Narendra continued to perform well for Thalaivas in the first half and won more than half the points for his team.
It was a super tackle that saved Bengaluru Bulls after getting an early hold on the rival raider. But once again, the team representing Tamil Nadu suffered a late defeat in the first half when Bharat’s failed raid for the Bulls gave the Thalaivas all-out points as the score read 20-17 in the second 20 minutes. Went.
A super raid within a few minutes of the first half put the Bengaluru team above their rivals. Star Bulls raider Vikash Kandola dismissed Mohit, Sahil Gulia and M. Abhishek in one go as the on-and-off nature of the game dominated the proceedings. One point from one team was negated by the other. Again, it was Thalaivas who made the most of the super tackle opportunities that came his way.
First, Vikas Kandola was stopped by substitute Sagar, and then the Bulls raider failed in a do-or-die raid. Soon after, Neeraj Narwal was stopped by Irani Amirhossein Bastami as the Thalaivas started running away with the points.
Just when the match looked to be leaning one way, another all-out, in which Kandola was successful this time for the Bulls, meant that the game would surely go to the last five minutes, still tied on points.
Despite Thalaivas’ resilience as Narendra scored a brilliant Super 10 and finished with a total of 12 runs, it was Bengaluru Bulls who ultimately won the ‘Semma’ South Indian derby.
Bharat’s Super 10 along with some excellent defending from his teammates against the likes of Narendra and Ajinkya Pawar ensured that the Bengaluru team will enter the new year with enthusiasm.
