New Delhi: Badminton star PV Sindhu, Olympic medalist Vijender Singh, Saina Nehwal, PT Usha, Sachin Tendulkar and Mary Kom welcomed the New Year on Monday and shared hopes and memories on social media platforms. Despite a challenging 2023 with several injuries and poor form, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu welcomed new challenges and said she is ready for her final challenge like Everest.

Sindhu said, “Paris 2024 is my final challenge. It’s like climbing Mount Everest. PV Sindhu quoted American author Mark Twain’s famous quote: ‘Focus more on your desire than your doubt and your dream will take care of itself.’ She wrote, “In the golden age of women’s badminton, securing a third Olympic medal is my ultimate challenge – frankly, it is my biggest challenge so far. I am as focused as ever; Rest assured, the fire is brighter than ever before!”

Two-time world champion and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Nikhat Zareen missed out on a gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou. India’s great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said that the new year will be an opportunity to realize new dreams. At the same time, former sprinter PT Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), highlighted the importance of the year 2024. “The new year is a good time to write new dreams and commit to fulfilling existing ones,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
