PM Modi said to Indian Para-Athletes, Government is Athlete-Centric, creating new opportunities by removing obstacles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Indian athletes participating in the Asian Para Games at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. During this, in his address, Modi said that you were playing in China but I was also with you. I was sitting here living every moment of your every activity, your efforts, your confidence. The way you have increased the honor of the country is unprecedented. He said that among the people who were selected for this game, some have come back after winning and some have learned, not even a single one of you has come back having lost. There are only two things in sports – winning and learning.

Modi said that you people know very well that sports are always extremely competitive. You compete with each other in every game, give each other tough competition. But I know that there is a fight going on inside you too. You have to struggle with yourself every day and explain yourself again and again. He said that when the government and policy makers are connected to the ground, when the government is sensitive to the dreams of the players, then its direct effect is visible in the policies and approach of the government. The government’s approach is now athlete centric. The government is now removing obstacles from the athletes and creating opportunities.

Narendra Modi said that schemes like ‘Khelo India’ have become such a platform for the players, which has opened the way to discover and support our athletes at the grassroots level. He said that a new culture is emerging in the society where children are being encouraged for sports. He said that earlier people associated with sports were not considered organized. However, today society is accepting sports as a profession. Earlier it was said that the player is for the government. However, now it is being said that the entire government is for the players. He said that I have a track record, that’s why I say that we are the ones who have reached number 5 from number 10 economy and with a pinch of salt I say that we will reach number 3 in this decade. The country will remain developed India till 2047.
