This will be remembered as a triumphant return, which is indeed historic for Indian athletics. The Indian team of Muhammad Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh clocked 2:59:05 to finish second in the heat at Budapest.

India also broke the Asian record

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team set a new Asian record and stormed into the final on Saturday. He broke the Asian record of 2:59.51 set by Japan at the World Championships in Oregon last year. The Indian team finished behind USA in the nine-team Heat 1. The USA clocked 2:58.47 to finish first, while Great Britain finished third in 2:59.42 and secured the final qualifying spot in Heat 1.

broke the national record

The first three finishers from each of the two heats and the two other teams with the fastest times advanced to the final. The Indian men’s timing also broke the national record of 3:00.25 set by Mohammad Anas, Noah Nirmal Tom, Arokia Rajeev and Amoj Jacob at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In the race, India was sixth after Muhammad Anas’ run in the first leg, but Amoj Jacob’s brilliant run in the second leg brought India to second place.

Muhammad Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh set the pace in the last two stages

Muhammad Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh did well to maintain the momentum in the last two legs to take India to the final. The Indian team was also the second fastest team in both the heats. The final is scheduled for Sunday, the last day of the global athletics meet.

Modi said, ‘I am seeing that the spirit which was earlier towards sports among our youth and even in families is no longer there. Earlier, when the child used to go to play, they used to stop and now a lot has changed. The Prime Minister said that the success of sportspersons is inspiring youth and families. He said, ‘Wherever our children are going in every game, they do something or the other for the country. And today these news are shown prominently in the country, told and also discussed in schools and colleges.
