Warsaw | Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Poland won 2-0 over the Faroe Islands in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier.

Fernando Santos’s men were effective from the moment the whistle blew, but were struggling to create chances.

Eight minutes after the break, Lewandowski hit the bar with a header from the right side of the six-yard box and he converted a penalty following Odmar Ferro’s handball in the 73rd minute to put Poland ahead, reports Xinhua news agency.

The hosts took control of the rest of the game and Lewandowski made it 2–0 with a precise effort with seven minutes remaining.

Poland are third in Group E with six points, behind Czech Republic and Albania. Faroe Islands have scored one point so far.

On Sunday, Poland will face Albania, while Faroe Islands will face Moldova.(IANS)
