Lucknow. The Yogi government has made vigorous preparations for organizing the Khelo India University Games, which are going to be hosted by Uttar Pradesh for the first time. On the instructions of CM Yogi, preparations are being made to make these games grand in the same way as the Global Investors Summit was organized in February. It is notable that all the preparations for the Khelo India University Games, which are going to be held in four cities of UP from May 25, are in the final stages. With the help of the successful conduct of the Games, the government aims to host more major sporting events. Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav reviewed the Khelo India University Games in the control room set up at BBD Badminton Academy. He said that wherever competitions will be held in the state, health facilities should be well maintained. Better arrangements should be made for the players to travel. There should be maximum arrangement of drinking water in view of summer. There should be better security arrangements for male and female players coming to participate in the competition. Nutritious food will be provided to the players. He said that it is everyone’s responsibility to organize the Khelo India University Games successfully. Therefore, the officers of all the departments related to the event will have to work with a team spirit and make the University Games historic.

Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Dr. Navneet Sehgal informed that the Khelo India University Games will be organized like the Global Investors Summit (GIS). The whole city will be seen in the color of Khelo India University. High level facilities are being arranged for the players and other visitors. There will be good arrangements to welcome the players at the airport. The game will be telecast through 25 screens in the four cities. Marathon will be organized to ensure public participation in the games.

Additional Chief Secretary informed that a small hospital will be built at all the venues that have been set for the competition. Doctors will be on duty. General medicines will be available. Hospitals have also been marked around the sports venue. They can be used if required. Along with this, there will be adequate arrangements for an ambulance. For this, instructions have been sent to the Chief Medical Officers of Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Dr. Sehgal informed that services of 1500 volunteers including 200 NCC cadets will be taken for the convenience of the players. Apart from these, 42 liaison officers of various universities have also been appointed. AC rooms have been arranged for the players to stay. He informed that during the competition, ministers from other states including the state will be invited for prize distribution.(IANS)
