PSL 2023: Multan Sultan played with Lahore, Rizwan’s team made a bang in the final

Lahore: Pakistan Super League 2023 has now reached the final round. The first qualifier match of the tournament was played between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. In this match, under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan, Multan defeated Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy Lahore Qalandars by 84 runs and confirmed their place in the final. Batting first in the match, Multan’s team scored 160 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs game. In response, the entire team of Lahore Qalandars got reduced to 76 runs in 14.3 overs.

However, after the defeat in Qualifier-1, the hopes of Lahore Qalandars are not over yet. Lahore has yet another chance to make it to the finals. Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi are yet to meet in the Eliminator round. Whichever team wins the Eliminator will face Lahore Qalandars in Qualifier-2. In such a situation, Shaheen Afridi’s team will try not to miss the second chance and avenge their defeat by Multan Sultan by reaching the final.

Lahore flopped badly in the qualifiers

In the qualifier match against Multan Sultans, the team of Lahore Qalandars flopped badly in both bowling and batting. In batting for Multan Sultan, opener batsman Usman Khan and Mohammad Rizwan made a strong partnership of 53 runs for the first wicket. Apart from this, Kieron Pollard played a stormy inning of 57 runs in 34 balls. During this, he also hit 1 four and 6 sixes. With this strong batting of Pollard, Multan scored 160 runs.

On the other hand, talking about the bowling of Lahore, no one was effective except Haris Rauf. Although Rauf definitely took three wickets, but he spent 34 runs in his 4 overs. When the Lahore team started chasing the target through Multan, they lost their wickets at frequent intervals. Half of Lahore’s team had returned to the pavilion on a score of just 45 runs. In such a situation, the whole team was reduced to a score of only 76 runs.

On the other hand, Sheldon Cottrell bowled brilliantly for Multan. He earned three successes by giving just 20 runs in four overs. At the same time, two wickets came in the account of Usman Mir while Anwar Ali, Abbas Afridi, Isanullah and Pollard also took one wicket each.

The team of Multan Sultan has reached the final of Pakistan Super League 2023. The Eliminator match is now to be played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi on 16th March. At the same time, the second qualifier match of the league will be with Lahore Qalandars on 17 March. The winner of the qualifiers will lock horns with Multan Sultans in the final on March 19 in Lahore.
