Punjab defeated Delhi by 4 wickets

IPL 2024, DC vs PBKS: Punjab Kings made a great start to their campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday by defeating Delhi Capitals by four wickets and did not allow Rishabh Pant to celebrate his return to the field after 14 months with a win.

Abhishek Porel played an unbeaten inning of 32 runs as an impact player.

After being invited to bat first, Delhi scored a challenging score of 174 runs for nine wickets with the help of Abhishek Porel’s unbeaten 32 runs off 10 balls, who came to bat at number nine as an ‘impact player’.

Sam Curran played an explosive inning of 63 runs.

For Punjab King, Sam Karen scored 63 runs in 47 balls with the help of six fours and one six. Whereas Livingstone scored unbeaten 38 runs on 21 balls which included two fours and three sixes. This also includes the winning six hit by Sumit Kumar in the last over due to which Punjab won by scoring 177 runs for 6 wickets in 19.2 overs. While chasing Delhi’s 174 runs, Punjab Kings got the first blow in the form of captain Shikhar Dhawan at the score of 34. Then on the score of 42, Jonny Bairstow also returned to the pavilion after scoring only 9 runs. Although Prabhav Prabhasimran Singh took the team’s score to 84 runs by playing an inning of 26 runs, but he gave away his wicket while trying to hit a six. After that, when Punjab’s score was 100 runs, Jitesh Sharma was out on 9 runs. After that Sam Curran and Livingstone batted fiercely and took the team to victory.

Pant returned to the field after 14 months and played an inning of 18 runs.

Rishabh Pant, playing his first match after being injured in a road accident in December 2022, scored 18 runs on 13 balls which included two attractive fours. Delhi captain Pant, however, got off to a good start like his other batsmen David Warner (29 runs on 21 balls), Mitchell Marsh (20 off 12 balls), Shai Hope (33 off 25 balls) and Axar Patel (21 off 13 balls). Could not convert into big score. In such a situation, Porel was fielded as an impact player and he lived up to the decision of the team management. He hit four fours and two sixes in his innings. This left-handed batsman spoiled the bowling analysis of Harshal Patel (two wickets for 47 runs) by scoring 25 runs with the help of three fours and two sixes in the last over of the innings.
