madrid Real Madrid’s black defender Antonio Rudiger faced racial abuse after a Spanish league match against the home team in Cadiz.
In a video posted by Spanish media on Sunday, Rudiger can be seen offering his shirt to a Madrid fan after the match, while Cadiz CF fans pass lewd comments at him.
Rudiger exchanged words with some fans, after which two members of Madrid’s staff escorted Rudiger away from the audience. The incident happened after Real Madrid’s 2–0 win over Cadiz.
Spanish football has featured several incidents of racism this season. Prior to Rudiger, his teammate Vinicius Jr. has also been the target of racist comments during several matches.
Earlier this month, Vinicius lodged a complaint against a Mallorca fan who was accused of calling him a monkey at a match. The same fan was also accused of insulting Villarreal midfielder Samu Chukwueze in another league match.
Valladolid recently suspended 12 season-ticket holders while investigating alleged verbal abuse from Vinicius.
