London: The Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals is going to give England’s limited overs captain Jos Buttler a tempting deal. The British newspaper ‘Telegraph’ gave this information on Thursday. Most of the IPL teams have stakes in T20 leagues around the world in one way or the other. There is a danger that the world’s top international cricketers may abandon central contracts with their country and sign with franchise clubs like in football. The Telegraph said that Rajasthan Royals are keen to sign a long-term deal with Butler but have not yet made an offer and It is also not certain whether he will agree to the deal or not. The report said, ‘England’s limited overs captain Jos Buttler has been offered a four-year contract by the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals (RR). It is understood that the offer has not been made formally yet. It has to be seen whether the World Cup winning captain accepts the offer or not.
Butler has scored 18 half-centuries and five hundreds in 71 matches since joining the Royals in 2018. He also plays for the Paarl Royals team of the Royals in the South Africa T20 League. Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders have added England’s Jason Roy to the team in a similar manner. However, Jason Roy did not have a central contract with the England cricket team.
If Jos Buttler does this, he will be the first player to take this decision in international cricket. Earlier, Trent Boult refused to take the central contract for franchise cricket. He plays for New Zealand only in big tournaments. Many experts have expressed their opinion regarding this. Most believe that it is dangerous for international cricket.
