BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said in a tweet that I am happy to announce the increase in prize money for all domestic tournaments of BCCI. He said that we will continue our efforts to invest in domestic cricket, the backbone of Indian cricket. The Ranji winner will now get Rs 5 crore while the winner of the senior women’s tournament will get Rs 50 lakh (earlier it was Rs 6 lakh).

Irani Cup prize money also increased

The cash prize for the Irani Cup has also been doubled, with the winner getting Rs 50 lakh instead of Rs 25 lakh. The runner-up team currently does not get any cash prize but now they will get Rs 25 lakh. In Duleep Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, the winning team will get Rs 1 crore and the runner-up team will get Rs 50 lakh. The winners of Deodhar Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will get Rs 40 lakh and the losing team will get Rs 20 lakh.

Women cricketers will also benefit

To promote women’s cricket in a big way in the country, a check of Rs 50 lakh will be given to the winners of the Senior Women’s ODI Trophy and Rs 25 lakh to the runner-up team. The prize money of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy has also been increased. In this, the winning team will get Rs 40 lakh, which is eight times more than the current amount. In this, the team that loses the final will get Rs 20 lakh. The 2023-24 domestic season of Indian cricket will begin with the Duleep Trophy tournament from June 28, while the most prominent tournament, the Ranji Trophy, will start from January 5 next year.
