Ashwin and Bairstow will represent their respective teams in the fifth and final Test here from Thursday. This will be only the second time when two players from rival teams will play their 100th Test in the same match.

Just a day after the start of the India-England match, New Zealand captain Tim Southee and his predecessor Kane Williamson will play their 100th Test together during the second match against Australia. Ashwin made his debut in Test cricket in 2011. He recently became the second Indian after Anil Kumble to cross the 500-wicket mark in the longest format of the game.

Thirty-four-year-old Bairstow will become the 17th England player to achieve his 100th Test cap. He made his debut in 2012. India has already secured an unassailable 3-1 lead in the ongoing series.
