Mumbai: Rajasthan Royals batsman Ryan Parag, who scored an unbeaten 54 off 39 balls to lead his team to victory against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, said he is simply replicating his domestic performance.

Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag has been seen in excellent form in IPL 2024. In the last two matches, he scored consecutive half-centuries, which included 84 runs in 45 balls and 54 not out in 39 balls. Earlier, Ryan had scored 43 runs on 29 balls in the first match of the season.

On Monday, thanks to Ryan’s fighting innings against Mumbai, Rajasthan defeated Mumbai by 6 wickets with 27 balls remaining.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult took 3/11 and 3/22 balls respectively in their four overs to restrict Mumbai Indians to a small total of 125/9. In reply, RR lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal cheaply. Then Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler also returned to the pavilion cheaply.

After this, Parag chased the target by scoring unbeaten 54 runs. He hit five fours and three sixes in his innings.

Talking about his performance after the match, batting all-rounder Ryan said, actually I have simplified everything instead of trying to do too many things. Earlier when I was not scoring runs, I used to think too much about it but now I just focus on my game, which is paying off.

Parag, who was earlier known as a finisher by the Royals, has now been promoted to number four in the batting order. This position is not new for the 22-year-old, as he performed brilliantly at this number in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he dominated the run-scoring charts with an impressive tally of 510 runs at an average of 85.

Parag, who started his IPL journey in 2019, had a great start as he scored 160 runs in five innings in his debut season. However, subsequent editions were not as successful, with the batsman crossing the 100-run mark only once in four editions, and his average being below 20 each time.

Now, in the 2024 edition he has also got the Orange Cap as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024 along with RCB’s Virat Kohli with 181 runs.
