Robbery took place in broad daylight in Gramin Bank branch, Rs 5.61 lakh looted at gunpoint

In the branch of Jharkhand State Gramin Bank located at Padwa Bazaar on Padwa-Patan main road in Palamu district, dacoits took the bank employees hostage and looted Rs 5.61 lakh kept in the locker of the bank branch. The incident is said to have happened at 10:20 in the morning. The number of criminals was five. After committing the incident, two ran away on a bike. The criminals also took the DBR of CCTV. After receiving the information, Trainee DSP Rajesh Kumar Yadav and the station in-charge reached the spot and investigated the matter. According to the information, the bank peon gate opened on Friday at around 10 am. After that three people entered the bank. The criminals looted the peon’s mobile phone and locked it in the bathroom. After some time, the branch manager of the bank, Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, cashier Kajal, Manish Mishra reached the branch together by car. The branch manager went to park the car a short distance away from the bank. In the same sequence, cashier Kajal, Manish Mishra and two employees of Rajhara Colliery branch, Pooja and another entered the bank together.

The criminals ambushed and looted the mobile phones of the four bank employees by threatening them with pistols and locked everyone in the bathroom. After this, the branch manager was entering the bank with a customer. In this sequence, two criminals showed fear and seized the pistol and started demanding the keys of the locker. He made the excuse that the locker key was left in the car. A criminal searched for the key of the locker in a car parked some distance away from the bank branch, but could not find it. On coming back he threatened to kill the branch manager. After which the branch manager gave the keys out of fear. The robbers took out Rs 5.61 lakh 360 kept in the locker and went down with it in a bag.

Five criminals carried out the incident. The criminals were identified through CCTV footage.

The criminals also took the DBR of the CCTV cameras installed in the bank. It is said that after committing the incident, three robbers on one bike and two robbers on the other bike fled towards Madhuri forest. After receiving the information, Padwa police station in-charge Chandrashekhar Yadav, Patan police station in-charge Lalji, Nawabazar police station in-charge reached the spot along with the police force and investigated the matter. The CCTV footage installed in the adjacent shop was viewed. In which the criminals have walked away comfortably after robbing the bank. There was no mask on the faces of the criminals. However, police say that the criminals have been identified from the CCTV footage. The bank branch operates on the first floor of a private building.

The theft that happened in two jewelery shops in the past has not been revealed yet

Earlier, on the night of November 10, 2023, thieves had stolen jewelery and cash worth lakhs by cutting the shutter of the shop in Shilpi Jewellery. Whereas in the second incident, on the night of January 9, 2024, the shutter of Lakshmi Jewelery shop located next to NH was cut with a gas cutter. The thieves had stolen lakhs of rupees. They also took the DBR of CCTV along with them. But till now the police has not been able to reveal the incident of this theft. Palamu SP reached the spot and assured of disclosure and arrest of criminals within a week, but till now neither arrest nor disclosure has been made. Shopkeeper Pramod Soni said that the businessmen are afraid of the terror of thieves and robbers. It cannot be said on which day the lock of which shop will be broken.
