New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Speaking for the first time after India’s loss in the ODI World Cup final, captain Rohit Sharma admitted that he has to move on in life, but it was very difficult for him to recover from the defeat. In the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 19 November, Rohit continued to give India a fast start in the first ten overs. Thanks to Rohit’s inning of 47 runs in 31 balls, the host team reached 80 runs at the end of the first powerplay.
But after that, India faced continuous setbacks in the middle overs and the Indian innings was reduced to just 240 runs. In reply, Australia achieved the target in 43 overs. Rohit said, I have always grown up watching the 50-over World Cup. That was the highest award for me. We have worked for so many years for that World Cup.
“I didn’t know how to come back after the defeat in the final,” Rohit said in a video posted on ‘Team45RO’ Instagram account. My family and friends inspired me. It was difficult to understand but life needs to move on, but honestly it was very difficult to move on from that day.
After the tournament ended, Rohit went to the United Kingdom with his family to recover from the defeat in the World Cup final. He also appreciated the fans who came in large numbers to support the team.
Rohit said, wherever we went during this entire campaign, there was a lot of support from everyone who was the first to come to the stadium and also from those who were watching it from home. Rohit told that the fans told him that they are proud of the Indian team’s performance in the World Cup. That made it easier for him to recover and he was touched by the sympathy she showed.
